DO NOT USE THE Heimdall INSTRUCTIONS. Use the xda forum instructions instead. If using a SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 (i.e. S II skyrocket) and the Heimdall install instructions posted on this site, flashing ClockworkMod (i.e. heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img --no-reboot) will fail, leaving you with a non-functional handset. Following this failure your only option is to install Samsung kies (not even odin will work) and flash a stock OS. This statement is accurate as of Heimdall Suite 1.4RC2, 10/2013. Until Heimdall can be verified as working on this device it is recommended you follow the following to install a custom recovery for now: . This message will disappear when it is confirmed.

Heimdall can successfully flash ClockworkMod using Heimdall 1.4.0 on Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS. Issue the heimdall commands as root: heimdall flash --RECOVERY recover.img && heimdall close-pc-screen

Heimdall 1.4.0 for Mac does not seem to work with this device. You will need to use the above Odin instructions on XDA. See this issue for more information:
